Ald. Hawkesworth was first elected in 1980. He is consistently one of Calgary's most popular elected officials.

In the 2007 municipal election, more than 70% of Ward 4 voters cast their vote for Ald. Hawkesworth.

EXPERIENCE

President, Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, 2004 - 2007. First President in AUMA's 100 year history to be elected for three terms. Board member and Vice-President for 7 years.

Director, Enmax Corporation 1998-2007. Founding Director for the City of Calgary wholly owned utility, including Chair of the Audit Committee from 1998-2001. Enmax has grown from a $280M electricity distribution company in 2000 to a $1.3B integrated and diversified energy company in 2007.

Director, Climate Change Central 2000-2007. Founding Director appointed by the Government of Alberta. C-3's mandate is to empower Albertans to take positive action to mitigate climate change.

Director, NewERA (New Energy Resources Alliance) 2003-2007. A non-profit industry association representing the decentralized energy industry in Canada.

Director, Calgary Zoological Society 1996 to 2005.
