WORKING FOR YOU

BOB HAWKESWORTH
Alderman Ward 4

Ald. Hawkesworth was first elected in 1980. He is consistently one of Calgary's most popular elected officials.

In the 2007 municipal election, more than 70% of Ward 4 voters cast their vote for Ald. Hawkesworth.

SUSTAINABILITY

While every decision of City Council requires at least 8 votes, Ald. Hawkesworth has given leadership and advocated for directions Council has given. Some of the accomplishments that have given him the most satisfaction during his tenure are:

Sustainable Communities Planning Initiative - AUMA is the first provincial association in Canada to develop a guidebook and toolkit for local governments to create a comprehensive strategy for community economic, social, environmental, cultural, and governance sustainability.

City of Calgary Sustainable Building Policy - All new City of Calgary buildings and major retrofits must be built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED ™) Silver or higher. This had a transformative effect on the building design and consulting community in southern Alberta.

Downtown Calgary District Energy project - currently under development, this project will serve over 1M square feet of office, commercial and residential with heat and cooling using a 200 MW combined heat and power plant.
